I was wondering about what I could write this time and it just came to my mind that I could search about and just realized that I could try to make a mixture about my favorite band ever “The Beatles” and my theme which is Pop Art, they are about almost the same years, and in the same main places, the Beatles were born in Liverpool (London was one of the main points) , and then they made a great impact in Unites States and later John Lennon moved to New York( the second main point) and died there. It’s a fact that they don’t have everything in common but I basically like to compare everything with them so let get it started…

Well believe it or not there are some paintings or pictures of them which were turned to this pop art style. As I told you in previous posts this pop art usually turns famous people at this colorful style. There is one in specific that I want to speak about, which was made by Richard Avenson it was or a magazine called Stern and well, as a random fact I know a place here in Monterrey where this poster is separated for each beatle and in big size. I bet you to guess where they are, its not going to be that hard if you like music and you usually buy CD´s. Below I will leave a link with more information about the picture that I’m talking about.

  1. Hello Margas! (: hey that picture you are talking about, and also the Beatles of course, is so cool!!! I loved it since I saw it; it is really cool; how the colors and styles represent the Beatles and their music. The picture also has some inclination to the hippie movement, I can see that for example in the picture of George Harrison and Paul McCartney; my favorite of the four is the one of Paul (: because he looks cute with those flowers and the colors match more with him than with the other members of the band. George Harrison looks kind of hippie but also pro with the native paintings, specially the eye in his hand and the paintings around his neck; maybe the artist put an eye in his hand because he is a guitarist. John Lennon looks intelligent with his glasses like that, with spirals, and the combination of 3 colors is great as it is simple but creative at the same time. And Ringo Starr’s picture enhances the peace theme with the dove he is holding and the blue light. The artist must have known the Beatles very well because the colors for each of them fit perfectly. This art inspired by the Beatles shows how famous they are, haha and hey! I have just found something more about how famous they are!!! :D if you write “beatles” in word it automatically corrects it to “Beatles” ;) ehe haha and I tried to write van halen but it did not work. And, I know where the picture is… it is in Mix Up at Valle Oriente right? I like it very much (:

  2. Hello Margas! I think it's very interesting and random the way Pop Art and the Beatles have several things in common. I also love the Beatles, they have made a great impact in the world and even though the band broke up many years ago people still listen to them. In the other hand, I like Pop Art too! So I love the fact that you mixed both things! When I think of Pop Art, the first that comes to my mind are striking colors and iconic characters from Pop culture and I can say that I really like the Beatles' picture in Pop Art style you posted with the text but I also like the classic Marilyn Monroe's Pop Art picture and the one with Campbell's Soup can!
I have found very interesting facts in your blog so I hope you'll keep on posting some others things like the commercial purposes of using Pop Art.
